To be very honest, I’m a bit of a romantic at heart. So I like the places I visit to have some sort of an old world charm to them- it’s just really something that I aim for. So, naturally, when I had to look for accommodation in Gurgaon, I was really sure of what I didn’t want- the same old clichéd experience at those chain hotels. There’s a very obvious comparison- chain hotels are like chain coffee- they are really great and everyone is raving about them, but once in a while you want that freshly brewed coffee in an al fresco seating by the pool. Well, anyway, I digress! I’d heard great things about the Heritage Resort and Spa, under the aegis of Select Hotels.
It’s like a Rajasthani Haveli- you know the sorts in Udaipur and Jaipur, where people host their grand destination weddings!
Well this is just like those, except it has the missing element that I look for- the old world charm, the whiff of an era gone by. It won’t make sense to a lot of people- but maybe it will.
It’s quite grand to be honest- impeccably designed, tastefully decorated and well-planned out. I especially loved my evenings at The Deck which overlooks the swimming pool. There’s a serenity at resorts that commercial hotels can’t give you. And that was the highlight of my vacation – the wonderful time at a splendid resort away from the chaos of the city. Definitely recommended!
